Dr. Allen from Windsor Village UMC taught about people wanting to do things but not accomplishing their desire. He easily explained that people do not accomplish their desire because their "want-to" is simply not big enough. When a person wants to do something, you can count it done. For example, when I want to eat, I do.
So I had to think about all things I have said I wanted to do. I want to lose weight and be healthy. I want to travel the world. I want to blog. I want to complete my MBA. I want to ... _____________(fill in the blank with anything you have wanted to do). For each item, I could come up with excuses as to why it is not yet accomplished. At first my excuses were reasons, but when I recalled that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phillipians 4:13), there is no excuse. That affirmation from the Holy Bible removes all excuses and replaces all doubt with expectancy.
Sometimes I have allowed fear of the unknown to petrify my steps. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of love, of power and of a sound mind (II Timothy 1:7). Orville and Wilbur Wright did not let fear stop them from creating and building the first successful airplane.
Well now! What stands in between me and my goals? Answer: "just a few steps". Nothing worth having comes easily. It is indeed a process. I have yet to find where God said how long it will take. This behooves me to create a plan. Write the plan down. Start the process. Make long term goals. Write down the small steps between the beginning and the desired outcome. What's next? Start step one. Check it off the list. Then step two ... and so on.
You have to start somewhere.

Kema, this is very good. I love it and its so true. I am currently in prayer over my ease of procrastination. I personally know that is one of my main problem as to why many of my "I Wants" haven't come to pass, or are just now seeing a season of harvest. I also have allowed fear to stop me or to hold me up. We have to move past it with authority and know that those feelings are not of God. Great blog, lady and how sweet of you to mention me as your inspiration, that really means a lot Kema. Keep writing, I'm a follower!
